Mathaf invites you to join a public talk by Art Historian and Independent Curator Charlotte Bank, in conversation with Mathaf Curator Lina Ramadan. The talk will focus on the life and practice of prominent Syrian artist Marwan Kassab-Bachi from 1952 in Damascus to his Berlin years until 2016, outlining his experimentation of figuration and abstraction, and long-life collaborations with intellectuals including Abdulrahman Munif and Adonis.

This talk will take place over Zoom and will be in English with simultaneous Arabic translation.

Mathaf Talk is a series of educational public interventions focused on research and knowledge production around the strategies and practices of modern and contemporary art. The program invites artists and art professionals and aims to engage both the academic and local community, in larger conversations around artistic practices in Qatar and around the world.
