Join us online for Mathaf Talk: Open Questions by Ranjit Hoskote on ‘How are Canons Formed?’ with reference to the processes of canon-formation in Indian modernism. This could act as a prompt to a larger discussion on canon-formation in the art scenes of the Global South, attentive to the interplay between the art market, the cult of connoisseurship, the negotiations between dominant and dissident voices, and the necessity for historical and curatorial correctives.

This talk will take place over Zoom and will be in English with simultaneous Arabic translation.

Mathaf Talk: Open Questions is a series of monthly presentations, dialogues and debate, produced by Mathaf: Arab Museum of Modern Art, Doha - Curatorial and Research.
