Ranjit Hoskote is an Indian poet, cultural theorist, and independent curator whose work has significantly shaped modern and contemporary art discourse.
Born in Mumbai in 1969, he is a crucial voice in the international art world. Hoskote has curated over 30 exhibitions, including India's first-ever national pavilion at the Venice Biennale in 2011. He co-curated the 7th Gwangju Biennale, with Okwui Enwezor and Hyunjin Kim. He has also curated museum retrospectives of major artists such as M F Husain, Jehangir Sabavala, and Atul Dodiya. Hoskote has been an associate fellow of Sarai-CSDS, Delhi, and researcher-in-residence at BAK, Utrecht, as well as a contributor to BAK’s Former West project.
He has served on the jury of the Venice Biennale (2015) and is a founding member of the Advisory Board of the Bergen Assembly, Norway. His writings explore the dynamics of the global art world, focusing on biennials, transnational projects, and the shifting roles of artists and institutions.
