Zahra A. Hussein Ali is a professor emerita of English Literature at Kuwait University. She holds a PhD from Brown University (United States). Her research interests include comparative literature, especially the intersection of textual and visual. Her publications include Aesthetics of Memorialization: The Sabra and Shatila Genocide in the Work of Sami Mohammad, Jean Genet, and June Jordan. Her book Sami Mohammed and the Semiotics of Abstraction won the Kuwait National Merit Award in 2004.
