Again

Live Performance

Created by Isango Ensemble and Ensemble 84,  AGAIN is a major new international performance; a work of memory, resistance and unstoppable hope.

Inspired by the long Palestinian fight for freedom, AGAIN is based on the writings of Palestinian author Sondos Sabra, some newly written, others drawn from her published diaries, which chart her experience of living under occupation in Gaza. From her words, and the performers’ own lived histories, emerges a powerful performance: part ritual, part resistance, wholly alive.

Created between South Africa and the UK, AGAIN unites artists shaped by histories of apartheid, occupation and working-class struggle to ask: what does solidarity look like now?

Through music, rhythm and real voices on stage, AGAIN connects Gaza, Cape Town and County Durham celebrating resilience, confronting erasure, and honouring those who refuse to be forgotten.

Directed by Mark Dornford-May, and created with acclaimed writer and commentator Tariq Ali, the work draws on lived testimony and global traditions of resistance to create a performance that refuses to look away—a fierce reminder that hope itself is an act of defiance.
