May Muzaffar is an Iraqi poet, short story writer, art critic, and translator living and working in Amman. Since 1970, she has published several volumes of short stories, poetry, and art appreciation. Her work includes six books translated from English to Arabic in comparative literature, plus two biographies and an autobiography of the Arab literary figure Professor Nasserdin Al Assad. She co-authored Rafa Nasiri: His Life and Art with Dr. Sabah al Nassery and wrote her own autobiography, Story of Water and Fire: Rafa Nasiri and May Muzaffar. Muzaffar has edited various art books in Arabic and English and translated six books and many articles from English to Arabic. Her recent publications include Al Huroufiya (The Arabic Letters) as manifested in Rafa Nasiri’s Artworks, published in 2022 in both Arabic and English. Since 2014, she has sponsored Rafa Nasiri’s artworks and acted as patron for the Rafa Nasiri Annual Award for Graphic Arts, a private award for young Arab artists.
