Mehri Khalil is an Egyptian artist and researcher based in Cairo. She became an external researcher at the al Mawrid Arab Center for the Study of Art, part of New York University Abu Dhabi, when it was founded in 2021. Her work focuses on recording and digitising archives from Egypt to ensure their preservation for future scholars. Previously, Mehri worked in exhibition design and art education. She is pursuing her doctoral studies at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna, where she explores transcultural influences on modern Egyptian art, particularly the experiences of Egyptian artists in Paris.
Mehri holds a master’s degree in arts administration and policy from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and a bachelor’s degree from the American University in Cairo. As an artist, she has had solo exhibitions in Cairo and has participated in numerous group exhibitions.
