Mehri Khalil is an Egyptian artist and researcher based in Cairo. Since 2021, she has been an external researcher at the al Mawrid Arab Center for the Study of Art, New York University Abu Dhabi. Her research focuses on the documentation and digitisation of Egyptian archival materials to support their long-term preservation and scholarly access. She previously worked in exhibition design and art education.
She received her doctorate from the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna in 2025, where her research examined transcultural influences in modern Egyptian art, with particular emphasis on Egyptian artists in Paris. Mehri holds a master’s degree in Arts Administration and Policy from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and a bachelor’s degree from the American University in Cairo. As an artist, she has presented solo exhibitions in Cairo and participated in numerous group exhibitions.
